Anika Ahsan (she/her) is a Doctoral of Psychology (Psy.D.) candidate at The Chicago School of Professional Psychology. She deeply values the work she does with each of her clients and believes that individuals are the experts of their own lives. Anika is passionate about listening to her clients’ stories and collaborating with them to understand their unique needs and develop personalized, effective treatment plans. Anika brings a broad range of clinical experience to her work. She has supported children, adolescents, and young adults (ages 2–24) on the autism spectrum and their families, as well as individuals experiencing severe mental health challenges in inpatient settings. Her work in these settings has involved clients with varying levels of acuity, from mild to severe, across the adolescent to adult lifespan. Her journey into the field began during her undergraduate studies, when she worked as a developmental therapist. This early experience inspired her to pursue a Doctorate in Psychology and fueled her passion for mental health advocacy and care.
Anika’s clinical specialties include anxiety, depression, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), and issues related to diversity, equity, and inclusion—such as cultural identity, acculturation stress, intergenerational trauma, racial and ethnic discrimination, and the mental health impact of marginalization. She also focuses on the intersection of religion, spirituality, and culture in mental health, helping clients navigate challenges related to faith, identity, and belonging, particularly within underrepresented communities.
As a Bengali American, Anika is especially committed to creating safe, inclusive spaces for individuals and communities that have been historically underrepresented in mental health care. Her long-term goal is to promote equity and accessibility in mental health services for all.
